S&M Marching Band Serie

The well-known band of the Gibb brothers, the Bee Gees, was the basis of many musicals, under which Saterday Night Fever and Grease. This arrangement is the titlesong of the movie-version of the musical Grease.

During the 80’s Huey Lewis at last got the appreciation he had been waiting for for so long. Together with his band "The News" he scored many hits, among which Hip To Be Square.

This well-known song, sung by Olivia Newton-John, might be the greatest hit of this movie. Now, magnificently arranged by Egbert van Groningen with a percussion arrangement by Dirkjan van Groningen, is very usable as a moment of rest during a Grease-show. The arrangement is made to connect seamless with Grease, but can also be played separate.

This hit of the well-known band Earth, Wind & Fire has always been a favourit of drum corps and marching bands all over the world.

This song is made famous by The Weather Girls, now in a new version by Gari Halliwell. This nice disco song is now available for Marching Band and Drumfanfare.

To end your ABBA show you use this arrangement with as ultimate closer Thank You For the Music. If you listen well, you’ll hear almost all themes from the show again in the last few measures and like this the ABBA show has a grand ending. Your audience will for sure recognize a lot of this cheerful music that is very suitable for show- and marching bands.

(voulez vous coucher avec moi) – This is original from the female singer La Belle. The modern version is from Christina Aguilera and friends. A groovy and fun to play arrangement.

This well-known hit of Paul Simon got a surprising introduction by arranger Egbert van Groningen. Further on it changes in de well-known latin-feel of the original, in which especiall the percussionists can enjoy themselves. The end is reverting to the beginning resulting in a smashing ending!

The Latin-American singer Jennifer Lopez had her break-through in 2000 with the song Let's Get Loud. Dirkjan van Groningen used a lot of the Latin-American influences in the percussion break in the middle of this arrangement, followed by a repeat with a splashing ending. A must!

Originally this piece is from the musical "Guys and Dolls", but it has been performed by several artists, among others by Barbara Streisand. This version of arranger Egbert van Groningen is grafted upon the Streisand-version. An "agressive" beginning leads to a bluesy trumpet solo after which the actual theme starts. All instrument groups get there turn to play the melody and a unison climax leads us to the end. Very fit for using on the field, but also suitable for street parades!

The band ABBA was immediately world-famous after winning the Eurovision Song-contest with " Waterloo ". The many hits that followed have recently been united in a musical. The title-song of the musical, Mamma Mia, is now available for marching band. We have more arrangements available to make a complete ABBA-show, but of course they can also be played separately.

Manhattan Skyline is one of the instrumental pieces from Saturday Night Fever written by David Shire. This piece got well-known in the band/corps scene through a performance of Beatrix’ Drum & Bugle Corps on one of their first albums.

This classic March of the Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi is professionally changed into a splashing samba by our arranger Egbert van Groningen. The arrangement starts with the march as Verdi intended. After a drum break the rest of the arrangement is written in samba-style.

The Brasilian singer/guitarist Jorge Ben is the founder of the samba-soul and composer of the classic Mas Que Nada. This groovy arrangement of Egbert and Dirkjan van Groningen forms with Chega de Saudade a fine basis for a complete latin theme show.

The music of ABBA always garantees a recognition in the audience. This arrangement contains two well-known hits of the Swedish band. An energetic beginning introduces the song Money, Money, Money and after a rubato transition, with a wink at "Autumn Leaves", the arrangement continues with I have a Dream in Rhumba-feel. Very suitable as an opening of your ABBA-show!

In 1976 John Miles scored a number one hit in the British hit parades and after that over the whole world. To mix symphonic parts with pure rock music this is much liked by the general public.

Night Fever is the title song of the well-known disco-musical Saturday Night Fever. Together with the other Saturday Night Fever titles this song forms a great theme-show.

One of the most played works for drumcorps is One More Time Chuck Corea. It is originally written by Gene Puerling as a vocal piece for his group Singers Unlimited and then played by many drumcorps at home and abroad, under which the Blue Devils. This version of arranger Egbert van Groningen is based on the performance of Future Corps, the mini drumcorps of the Disney Theme Parks in Florida .
